The race for the top four is well and truly heating up. Two teams that are well and truly in the race – Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians – take on each other in New Delhi on Friday (April 18).
Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) placed themselves at 2nd and 3rd in the IPL points table with five wins from eight matches.
Mumbai Indians are also getting better with each game and look a more potent outfit with the return of Lasith Malinga. All-rounder Hardik Pandya is also firing on all cylinders.
Pandya, who smashed an unbeaten 37 off 16 balls in Bangalore on Thursday, has spoken about how time away from the game is helping him at the moment.
Capitals got the better of Mumbai Indians at Wankhede earlier in the competition, so expect the Rohit Sharma-led squad to come back harder at Kotla. (PTI)
Both Mumbai and Delhi are on 10 points from eight matches each. A win will take them closer, a loss will hurt but not dent their chances completely. Yet, now is the time to hit momentum going into the latter stages.
MI team have covered up all bases and have won four of their last five matches. They will now face the inform Delhi Capitals who won their previous three fixtures.
The contest between the two sides holds a lot of significance as the tournament is in the second leg and any deviation from victory may land any team in trouble.
Delhi is high on cofidence and their skipper, Shreyas Iyer, also intoned the same when he said the team is eyeing the coveted title this time after their rather successful show so far.
